How can these companies offer the £41,700 minimum salary set out by the Home Office?

The answer will surprise you.

The Home Office state workers entering the UK through the 'list of organisations licensed to sponsor workers on the Worker and Temporary Worker immigration routes' should be earning the higher of £41,700 or the going industry rate.

However, at no point during the application does the potential sponsor have to prove they can offer such a job.

A British girl in 1960 left school able to roast a joint, render the dripping, make a suet crust and bone a fish. Her granddaughter was taught to design the box a pizza comes in.

SHE REPORTED NHS FRAUD

Sharmila Chowdhury @sharmilaxx exposed two consultant radiologists at Ealing Hospital NHS Trust billing the NHS for sessions while working privately. The Trust sacked her after counter-allegations from a man who later sent an email ending with ...

... and was given a Top Mentor award that same year.

Then @ITV sent undercover cameras into the hospital and caught the same consultants taking cash from private patients for ultrasound scans inside an NHS building.

Sharmila had worked in the @NHS for 30 years without a single disciplinary mark. She reported the fraud to her line manager, the Medical Director, HR, Counter Fraud and the Chief Executive, then took the evidence as far as Number 10 and the Treasury.

Instead of protecting the whistleblower, the Trust sacked her on fabricated counter-allegations.

Sharmila fought back and won at tribunal. She won her appeal. The judge asked the Trust to reinstate her, but the Trust refused. She was then blacklisted across the NHS. One job offer was withdrawn as soon as the employer discovered who she was, and her legal costs reached around £130,000.

Then came the personal cost. Sharmila developed breast cancer and lung cancer. Her doctors linked her illnesses to the prolonged stress she endured during years of fighting the case.

The consultants kept their jobs.

George Osborne, Andrew Lansley and David Cameron all declined to intervene because the case was treated as an employment matter.

Think about what happened here. Sharmila exposed fraud involving NHS money, lost her job, won at tribunal, won her appeal, was refused reinstatement, spent around £130,000 fighting back and became seriously ill.

The consultants she reported kept working.

A woman was murdered because Labour chose to let a violent man out early.

It took Robert Sabat 11 days to reoffend, stabbing and suffocating his own half-sister after he was released through Labour’s Early Release Scheme.

She suffered eight stab wounds, alongside broken bones.

Her face was 'virtually unrecognisable' at the mortuary.

When paramedics arrived on the scene, Sabat charged at them with a knife.

He told police he was going on a "murder spree."

This was totally preventable.

Sabat had 4 prior convictions, including for stabbing someone in the throat with a knife back in 2014.

How could anyone think it was the right call to unleash him onto our streets?

The Tories and Labour created this monstrous system.

That speech was not a pitch. It was a vile rant that ended with “but you’re still mine.” As if she owns our votes.

People did not leave the Conservatives because they were waiting to be called home. They left because the last Tory government promised control of the borders and delivered record migration, small boats and higher taxes.

Calling us “our people” who “deserve better” treats our choice as a lapse, not a verdict. Attacking Nigel, Suella and the rest in the same breath tells us our verdict still stands.

You cannot win someone back by insulting the party they just joined.

Voters hear the abuse first and the invitation second, and they assume the invitation is aimed at the echo chamber room it was delivered in, not at them.

Ruling out any deal with “that” while begging for “their” votes makes it worse: the supporters are welcome, but the cause we now back is contemptible.

Nobody reasonable or decent switches on those terms.

The own goal is clear. The only line that might have worked was the short one she already had: we let you down, and here is what we would do differently.

Everything after it, the circus, the sneering, the identity row turned into a moral lecture, all confirmed the reason we left.

A party that still thinks lost voters need to come home has not yet noticed that it is the one which moved out not them.
