@sparta_usa The show’s history is so rich, I’d hate to lose all that. No show has a format as flexible as Who, so it’s uniquely placed to find a workaround for past missteps, but it will take a great showrunner and writers room to pull it off and restore the show’s credibility.
RTD: “I could have ended the last episode without Billie Piper, but I tossed that in, like a grenade, hoping it would force the BBC to keep me on. They haven’t. Now the show is fucked, thanks to me. Will the next lot change everything? I couldn’t give a fuck, frankly.” #DoctorWho
RTD: For the record: there was no script, I never wrote it. You may disagree; fine, sit in that chair and wait to be proved right. You'll wait a lonnng time.
Also RTD:
@batteredoldbook He almost sounded hopeful, didn’t he? Though he shouldn’t. If the next lot do destroy what’s left of the show he’ll be remembered as the man who enabled that vandalism.
@SecondTil I was never very fond of RTD1 - it was broad for me, and the show only really took off in my mind when Moffat took over, but there’s no doubt he successfully relaunched the show. Now he’s killed it. Quite a turnaround.
The RTD2 era is over. Christmas is cancelled, and the spectre of Billie Piper lingers like a dust cloud after a building collapse. Is there any way back for #DoctorWho? And what does the BBC and Rouselle's statement actually mean? Find out! #DrWho

Wondering if #disclosureday will suffer the same fate as MOTU. Lots of upfront interest from eyes of a certain age, 0 from kids who don’t know who the fuck Spielberg is. Still, grosses could be topped up by fans of Michael Douglas thriller Disclosure, who think this is a sequel.
Amazon MGM’s Kevin Wilson is pushing back on negative buzz surrounding the box office numbers for Masters of the Universe
Wilson called the opening a "very solid start," highlighting a "passionate, multigenerational audience response" and a massive 96% "definite recommend" from kids under 12 in PostTrak polls
(@TheWrap)
The pop cultural moment we’re in are grown men taking to Twitter to encourage other grown men to see a film made for children that children have no interest in.
That said, #obsession is very good.
Maybe the clue as to Masters of the Universe’s durability as an IP was there in the box office for the Cannon 1987 flick. You can say it’s bad if you like, but it’s only 2 years on from the cartoon and it was already thought to be old hat. We’re now 40 years on from the peak. 🤔
