@buddyguy010@JJ_McCullough You took the time to say it's not, without providing your source. Great! Also didn't address the fact that it doesn't matter what the real %, for any "patriotic" Canadian that's blaming Trump for all problems, 0% is the only amount that doesn't make you a rank hypocrite.
@NickSchmidt Seems kind of self-inflicted? You're trading on a platform that became famous for zero commissions by selling all of your order flow to HFTs and darkpools.
@buddyguy010@JJ_McCullough Know what the great thing is? Any % above 0% for these people is pure hypocrisy. And Vanguard - the source of your claim - is only a source of data for funds invested (shockingly) in Vanguard ETFs.
@Mithra_Is_Fine@tleehumphrey Yes I get that and am fine with that. The allegation by the Canadian side is that the US had much more invasive. My problem is NOT what you're referring to here...
@melindahellyer@Microinteracti1 Yes. We have a giant ocean in the way and it's normally cheaper China->EU than Canada->EU. Big part of our competitiveness in US market = 1) weaker currency / lower cost of labour and 2) logistically as close to the top half of US markets as the bottom half of the US is to them.
@AlexRick001@tleehumphrey 1. This wasn't just about China. The (alleged) clauses are country agnostic.
2. Even if it was just about China, the US does way more trade with them than we do on a proportional and nominal basis.
@Gina_T1 Going to end well, I'm sure. Brave boomers thinking they are unaffected because they don't need a job, until the OAS cuts come down. Then the real estate market takes another big dive, hitting their assets. Won't be talking as tough after choosing between Fancy Feast and Whiskas.
@OJoelsen Right but let's be clear - if this gets nasty here's what you're asking for:
- permanent, significant reduction in quality of life for Canadians
- probable cuts to social programs like OAS and healthcare
- incurring much more debt that will burden future generations of Canadians
@FourStixx The implication is that Canada of course "owes" the US something for the protection. But given our geography, the only country Canada is at existential risk from is the actually the USA. So, protection racketeering, basically.
@david_parker I'm Canadian and this is somewhat true. A big (but not only) part of our identity is "not American". That doesn't always mean "anti", but often does.
