A nine-year-old named Mason knocked on my door and asked if I would come to his school for career day.
"What is career day."
"You come to my class and tell them what you do."
"What do I do."
Mason looked at me with the patience of a boy explaining a door to a man. "The samurai thing."
I prepared a presentation. I practiced it for Mason on my porch. He stopped me twice.
"You're doing the voice."
"What voice."
"The movie voice. Just talk."
A firefighter went before me. He brought the truck. I want it noted, for the record, that he brought the truck.
The questions of fourth graders are the most honest interrogation I have ever survived.
"Do you have a sword?" I do not bring it to schools. "Why not?" Laws. "That's fair."
"How much money do you make?" Less than the dentist. "That's bad." It is not great.
"Do you know my dad?" I do not. "He knows YOU." This was never explained.
Then a girl in the front row, who had said nothing all hour, raised her hand and asked the question I have been asking myself for years.
"Are you a real one?"
I have been asked this by strangers online a thousand times, and I keep a shelf of clever answers ready for it. But something about that room — the small chairs, the girl waiting — made every clever answer leave my head at once.
"I do not know," I said. "I am trying to be."
The girl nodded, as though I had passed something. Mason nodded too. The teacher, Mrs. Alvarez, did not correct me and did not rescue me. She let the answer stand in the room like a flag.
The class has a hamster. It watched my entire presentation from its wheel, running. I never learned its name. It is the only audience member whose opinion I still wonder about.
Two weeks later, Mrs. Alvarez handed me a stack of thank-you notes, written in crayon, in the giant handwriting of people who have not yet learned to lie.
"Dear Mr. Samurai. Thank you for coming. You were the only one who said I don't know. I didn't know that was allowed."
One of them had a drawing of me. I am taller in it. My sword is enormous and, I must note, present, despite the laws.
It is on my refrigerator now. In this country, the refrigerator is where a family puts the things that matter.
The dentist has a billboard on the highway.
I have a refrigerator.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi was confronted by a reporter about the story that Trump was targeted for assassination leaving Turkey.
He called it: "Ridiculous. There is absolutely no need for it." The reporter asked why and Araghchi added: "Trump is destroying the US. We don't want to eliminate him."
Trump is probably going to declare a national emergency because when they lose the midterms he knows he's in a lot of trouble.
When he does this, it is up to all of you to stand up and make sure that the voting process continues on without interruption. Save your democracy.
To the beardy guy who yelled “that’s an amazing dress!” while driving past me on 118 Avenue, thank you.
To every other guy: see, you can compliment a woman in a non creepy way.
The more I think of Donald Trump hiding away in a catering truck, the more I realize that the assassination in Butler- where he was so brave, yelling " fight, fight, fight," - WAS STAGED
Your Thoughts
A federal judge just blocked Trump’s attempt to control mail-in voting — again — stating, “the executive branch has no authority to regulate elections.” The Constitution gives the power to administer elections to the states, NOT the president.

Why, why does this Government seem determined to take away the basic protection and needs of our children. They are innocents. They will soon become leaders and workers in our Country. What are we teaching the by denying them by denying them even essential services? Why is our Government denying these services?
SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT, WHEN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY LOOKS AT THE 80 YEAR OLD DROOLING DEMENTIA PATIENT IN MAKEUP AND DIAPERS WHO HIDES IN A CATERING CART THEY SEE A BRAVE AMERICAN TOUGH GUY 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He fomented an insurrection. He botched a pandemic. He stole classified documents. He committed every type of fraud known to man. He protects pedophiles. He's a convicted felon. He's an adjudicated rapist. He monetizes the presidency and weaponizes justice. He lies and obstructs at every turn. He's lawless. He's needy. He's compromised. He's narcissistic. He's psychopathic. He's paranoid. He's sadistic. I can go on.
AND YET - no matter how bad we know he is, and no matter how bad the many things we know he did are, remember this: Some of the things we don't yet know he did, are even worse.

🇺🇸Reporter: "Trump is saying Iran tried to assassinate him in Turkey."
🇮🇷Araghchi: "No. There is absolutely no need for it."
🇺🇸Reporter: "Why?"
🇮🇷Araghchi: "Trump is already destroying the United States. We don't want to eliminate him."
Araghchi is a strategic genius 🤣 👏
As a proud Canadian I extend my deepest gratitude to Mexico for sending us 300 firefighters! It’s utterly despicable that all Trump did was complain about our wildfire smoke going into the US and threaten us with yet another tariff.
