Well, this is Egypt, not Israel.

The players are reciting the Quran, Surah al-Fatiha, which refers to Jews as those under God’s wrath and Christians as those who have gone astray.

Egypt has a large Christian population, yet not a single Christian player on the national team.

Before the match, the team gathers to recite the very text that classifies Christians as the lost, in an act of worship so that Allah may grant them victory.
