‘Urdu’ is not some imposition on Pakistan out of nowhere. It was the language of large chunks of what is now Pk. It is the grandchild of sanskrit, evolved from shauraseni prakrit/hindavi/hindustani & becoming urdu after contact with persian/arabic/turkish vocabulary.
