This is an impressive feat. Thank you, Prof for what you did and still doing to FUD students and the larger community. May the Almighty Allah, the omnipotent and omnipresent, bless you abundantly.
I am considering my next move to your department, Prof.😅
🎉 Great News from Our Students at FUD!
Yesterday, I facilitated 4 scholarships from the Society of Actuaries (SOA) for our students. Each package includes an exam fee waiver and official preparation materials, with a total value of $400 per student.
Actuarial professional exams are international and quite expensive looking at our exchange rate. This waiver covers the preliminary exams- Exam P (Probability) and/or Exam FM (Financial Mathematics).
Candidates who pass these exams are likely to secure good jobs or additional scholarships after graduation, with excellent pay.
Congratulations to the beneficiaries!

@eesmaah@Demo4show Agreed — especially with integrals, matrices, and multi-line equations where Word simply can’t compete. One tip for heavy equation work on Mac: TeX64 can screenshot any formula from a textbook or paper and auto-convert to LaTeX, no typing needed: https://t.co/U0xXGgQdFn
It’s very hard to reproduce the experience of getting a PhD. It’s not just having the space and explicit support to do multi-month deep dives in an adjacent areas that spur new ideas (coursework), or deeply internalize content by teaching it (TA work), or participate in multiple reading groups per week with other highly motivated researchers with fresh eyes (your PhD cohort), or have a senior researcher who has self-selected into making a career out of mentoring apprentices (your advisor), though it is all that. It’s also just the separation from commercial pressure that is squeezing most AI work today into the regime of what could be relevant in the next 6-12 months instead of more blue sky bets on what will be piquing in relevance in the next 3-5 years.

I have tremendous sympathy for people who measure their success against their peers. I have nothing to gain and much to lose by inviting comparisons with them.
Shell and other companies usually include a “technical presentation" as part of the interview process.
I had one the day before my Shell Recruitment Day.
Presented to a bunch of folks from the Technical Safety Engineering team.
One of the biggest scams in the corporate world is in that name – technical presentation – because I can assure you that the last thing they want is something technical.
I have seen so many smart candidates fall for this.
You think you impressed them.
But the next thing you get is a rejection email.
Because nobody is actually evaluating your technical skill.
They are looking for something else entirely.
(I wish they’d just be more honest about this.)🧵
