People like me need something LARGE and Visual👀 when planning and prioritizing. *High priority items at the top, *Throw away when done. *Rearrange your week as needed. *Identify your busiest days and plan accordingly. #executivefunctioning#adhdtwitter#adhd#Priorities
How much do you make a year? 100K+?
And you can’t even reply to emails at work? What are they paying you for?
Are you paranoid that your boss is mad at you? Probably are.
You’re not checked out, but you don’t work the same way others do.
Different brain = different playbook.

Good studying requires active recall.
Don’t confuse recall with recognition. Just seeing it before doesn’t mean success on the test.
Put yourself in situations where you have to dig the memory from your brain. Think flash cards, practice tests, teaching it to someone.

Most students don’t know how to study.
When I ask kids how they study, the number one answer I get is, “I go over my notes”.
What does that even mean? Just look at them? Reread? Rewrite?
Why don’t we teach spaced repetition, mnemonics, mind maps, etc?

Because you have been diagnosed with ADHD:
1. You need to work harder on yourself than most people.
2. You must accept failure as part of the process. Be resilient.
3. You need to be creative and consistent in your solutions.
It’s never an excuse to give up.

ADHD is a performance problem. You know you need to, but can’t execute.
Use frustration as your motivator.
-Tally up the times you’ve tried and failed.
-Get mad and get creative
-Get an accountability partner
It’s harder for you than most. But not impossible.

Stop multi-tasking!
Do one task. Only one task.
-shut out ALL other distractions
-define it
-time-box it into a short time frame of 10-15 minutes or less
Multi-tasking drains you of your focus, energy and drive to keep going and exacerbates ADHD symptoms.

@Jurassic_Liz@JohnFugelsang If you consider the words I said, there’s no ableism there. Have helped hundreds achieve success by these standards. Don’t victimize yourself.
@TrollsyEth Not sure that’s what I meant. Work harder on yourself than most doesn’t mean “work harder” in general. And “be consistent” is something you can do if you have accountability. I have worked with hundreds and seen results. Twitter adhd is steering everyone in the wrong direction.
Everyone has a voice running through their heads guiding them throughout the day.
Try first, becoming aware of your voice, then slowly changing what you say to yourself.
Your voice may be contributing to your lack of focus, motivation, and ability to get started.
