New blog post from the 25th Anniversary Conference: the second entry in my “old man yelling at stuff” series.
I tell young people to put down the AIs (for a moment) and talk to each other. Innovation matters, but without human connection, there’s no real public diplomacy.

@viriyatae@place_branding Thanks Viriya! I am trying to present somewhat of a comprehensive framework from a perception perspective as cities are engaging in more and more international activities. The actor perspective is fragmented because of bureaucratic mandates and such, but perceptions are not.
It was a pleasure to be a part of this project. It gave me a chance to actually empirically test a couple of theoretical arguments both in city diplomacy and digital diplomacy.
Looking forward to reading all the contributions.
I wonder how awkward it would be if I start a crowdsourcing campaign to attend this conference...
I am okay with medium levels of awkwardness, and with high levels if I get to fly business.
Call for papers is now open!

🚨 #IPBA2023 @IPBA2023 participants - a quick favor request. If you happen to have a photo from your ferry trip, could you share it with me?
I have an idea for next year's art gallery.
Alright, it is that time of the year with #academic#jobmarket. As I am spending my Saturday night going through job applications, let me share some of my wisdom.
Please note that my wisdom is fueled by Saturday-night-working rage and some bourbon.
10) Good luck to you all on the job market. I know it sucks, I was on it four times. Happy to share more of my experience / rage-filled-wisdom if you need help. Shoot me an e-mail esevin[at]towson[dot]edu.
