* The Stoic Lion and the Everchanging Cloud * 🌥

Once upon a time, there was a wise lion who lived in the mountains shaped like a gigantic table.

His wisdom and understanding of the world were renowned far and wide. People from all walks of life would come to seek his guidance and learn from his teachings.

One day, as the wise lion gazed up at the sky, he noticed a cloud drifting by. The cloud was majestic and ever-changing, taking on different shapes and colors as it moved. The lion became captivated and started contemplating its nature: As the big cat mediated, he realised the cloud was a good symbol of the fleeting, transient reality of life.

Just like the cloud, our emotions, thoughts, and circumstances (yes even #loadshedding) are constantly shifting and evolving.

The lion understood in that moment that it was futile to cling to these passing phenomena or be obsessed with them - for they were as impermanent as the cloud itself.

Instead, the lion 🦁 fixed his gaze on the rocks below his belly and the famous Island in the distant stormy Atlantic. He chose to focus on unchanging truths that lay beyond the ever-changing sky. He recognized the importance of cultivating inner virtues and living a life guided by principles that would withstand the test of time.

The lion understood that by embodying qualities such as courage, temperance, justice, and wisdom, he could become a beacon of light and inspiration for others. He suddenly saw himself as a guide, leading those around him towards a deeper understanding of themselves and the world.

Inspired by the lion's wisdom, pilgrims would now hike onto the head of the lion, that still peers out at the beautiful City of Hope. From its heights, they could witness both moving clouds and stable rock foundations. The sight filled their hearts with a sense of reverence and reflection on the journey of their own lives. They understood that just as the lion had found wisdom in the ever-changing sky, they too could find meaning in the transient nature of life. They were inspired to embrace the same virtues, as they walked their own paths of self-discovery and growth.

The stoic lion's teachings inspire pilgrims to this day as they visit #LionsHead, and the view from there serves as a powerful reminder of the transient nature of life"... The End #Stoicism #Travel
