@Derrick_NYC Real and needed change can happen here as we need to rethink the old broken ways. Late night subway service hasn’t ever felt like a safe ride; now, daytime service is equally beset by dangerous conditions and health hazards for riders. We can & have to do better.

@Derrick_NYC I don’t think it should be a permanent shutdown...but I do think this period of shutdown should last long enough to fix a lot of what’s broken, in addition to working to get the homeless out of the subways and into proper housing/deep cleaning the trains & stations.

@Derrick_NYC @BnjaminLee Also: I don’t see why alternate and increased above ground service is somehow safer than late night service the way it currently is, but even before this happened I never felt self riding the subway late at night. It didn’t feel like “safely” getting home to me.

Obviously I don’t want night shift workers to be left out in the cold but shelter in place really exposed the deep faults in the subway system and we need a new/better model moving forward.
