On Wednesday afternoon after Saints OTAs
Alvin Kamara talked for almost 15 minutes about his future with New Orleans.
This is the first time he's spoken this offseason.
@Will_NOLA@TurdFNOLA5 I think Fears has the size, speed, and intensity to be a Jose-type on-ball defender. And he was already looking more like that by the end of the year. The nuances of zone defense might be tougher to learn, but he wont' be a black hole.
@Will_NOLA@TurdFNOLA5 Whatever else happens, I think Zion and Fears will both be positive defenders in year 1 under Mosley. Queen needs to add a lot of lower body strength, but I think he can get there by year 2.
Alvin Kamara is smarter than Mickey Loomis. Alvin saw the narrative Mickey was going to try to build (basically, "Alvin was angry we added Etienne, didn't show up to voluntary OTA's, and didn't want to accept less money"), so he's picked them apart one by one.
@youngbossman1@SaintsForecast I’m not counting Borrego as a coach, he was an interim. Trey and Herb have only ever gone through an offseason with Willie Green as their coach. And they were good enough to get the whole league asking for them.
@nohoesisaiah@WildBoyLife_GSP He didn't play like a 1A this year, but he looked like a player who could fit with others, instead of a player who needed a specific team built around him. Zion as 2nd option is a winning piece, especially if Mosley unlocks his defense constistently.
There’s a difference between “Untouchable” and “Worth more than his trade value.” Like, I get the desire to trade Zion. But Zion’s better than anyone we get back for Zion.
I keep saying this, but you can’t win 45 games combined in the last 2 years and have untouchables.
Everyone can be had - especially with an entire new coaching staff
@sheldawg311@SaintsForecast 49 wins gets you a 3-6 seed pretty much every year except the year they did it. The reason contenders are pushing us for Trey & Herb every year is Trey & Herb are winning players.
Just a reminder that the study they're talking about was about transGENIC mice, not transgender mice. They literally made a poster about their own stupidity.
@BirdWatcher504 His contract is not top 15. Trey has one of the best contracts in the league for the production you'll get out of it. It might be worth one pick from us, but not multiple.
@SaintsForecast The idea that Zion, Trey, and Herb can't compete together is wrong. They won 49 games together a couple years ago. The players around them matter, injuries matter, and the coaching matters. None of them should be untouchable (except Herb IMO), but this roster isn't a disaster.
