"Focus on the piece not the writer" not letting emotions get in the way of writing suggestions. Of course in true teaching there are rules of mandated reporting, but I believe that letting a student write an emotional piece without much teacher prying is important. #396FlynnS23

It seems like the idea of criticality is to have students be able to evaluate world ideologies (such as racial inequality) whilst also learning "core" educational components, and being able to put these things together to provide an educated opinion. #396FlynnS23

It seems that the HRL framework was developed off of the education and culture throughout history, so that the ultimate goal is to provide "culturally relevant" education. #396FlynnS23

It appears that the method of teaching students writing strategies was the most successful (largest effect strength). Explicitly teaching students how to write seems to be a big help in assisting them to writing on their own in the future.

@Caitlyn_Kirk_ I had such a similar experience with the article on Rittenhouse! As I read the article, I realized that I couldn't even picture what the victims looked like, because I only saw photos of Rittenhouse or police pictures. #teacheredumatters

One thing I didn't realize was just how much the point of view from black people are represented when it comes to discussions of race and racism, and rather how often the arguments of white people about it come up. #teacheredumatters

I chose "We cry together", a song by Kendrick Lamar. The song includes a couple fighting. As I listen, I try to create a story in my mind, using my prior knowledge of relationship, similar to how, when using my literacy skills, I apply my prior knowledge. #teacheredumatters

To be literature is to be able to evaluate and form your judgement of the text, and be able to respond to it.
