Feels like incomplete journalism. No analysis or critque.
Most would take this differently; in fact, it does not automatically prove total economy wide FX demand.
Demand for dollars remained strong as Ethiopian banks submitted $236.3 million in bids for the central bank’s $100 million FX auction, with requests exceeding supply by more than twofold.

"We clarified that the tragic deaths of 5 Ethiopian nationals are linked to organised crime within the Ethiopian community in SA, rather than xenophobic violence"
😡😡😡 that's just blatant lie
Ethiopia participated in the G8 summits in 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2012 during the tenure of the late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, as well as in 2015 and 2017 (later renamed G7 after Russia was expelled from the Group) during the tenure of former Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn.
In this year's summit being held in France, Kenya is represented by its president, while Egypt is attending, represented by its leader for only the second time in its history.
Ethiopia's non-participation and complete absence from this summit raises diplomatic and economic concerns. This becomes even more worrying as Ethiopia's voice remains unheard on this influential platform where major international decisions shaping the world's political and economic direction, debt relief strategies, and development agendas are crafted.
At a time when neighboring Kenya is repeatedly invited as an honored guest, and even Egypt has been invited to participate in France's G7 summit for only the second time in its history, Ethiopia's absence indicates that significant diplomatic homework lies ahead for us.
Ethiopia's estrangement from this platform is bound to diminish the geopolitical leadership role it previously held in the Horn of Africa and lower its international diplomatic influence. It reduces its capacity to be heard on critical agendas such as climate change, financial assistance, and regional security.
To ensure Ethiopia's voice is heard loud and clear, this diplomatic homework must be thoroughly addressed.

nearly 100% of the software securing Ethiopia's defense sector, national ID, and data systems is now homegrown. Driven by brilliant native tech experts and a defense force where over 40% of recruits are university graduates, we are securing our secrets in our own home.

Eritrea: Happy Independence Day.
Celebrating 35 years of Eritrean independence.
Liberation has never come free, and it is never sustained without courage and sacrifice. The Eritrean people paid dearly to win their freedom, and they have continued to pay a heavy price for holding fast to what they believe in rather than yielding to powerful pressures. I honour the indomitable spirit and perseverance of the Eritrean people, and the sacrifices still being made. Your resilience inspires all who value true liberty.
