The Dollar is at a critical decision point after confirming both the 10 year parabolic and the 1973 parabolic.

Let me explain why this is significant.

Shortly after President Nixon left the gold standard in 1971, oil surged from $3 to $39 due to the 1973 Arab-Israeli War and the 1979 Iranian Revolution.

Oil stopped rising in July 1980 because the high prices triggered a global economic recession, forcing governments to impose drastic energy conservation measures, and spurred alternative oil production outside OPEC.

Sound familiar? 🤫

From 1977 to 1978 the Federal Reserve raised interest rates from 4.5% to 10%. They held rates steady until August 1979.

In August 1979 Paul Volcker began rapidly reducing the Dollar supply, which caused a sudden 2nd surge in U.S. interest rates.

This dramatic increase in U.S. yields catalyzed massive international capital inflows into dollar-denominated assets, triggering a global sovereign debt crisis.

In August 1982, Mexico informed the U.S. Federal Reserve and the International Monetary Fund, that it was bankrupt, quickly followed by defaults or near-defaults in Argentina, Brazil, and dozens of other developing nations.

Amid concurrent global instabilities, including the Iran-Iraq War, oil shocks, and shifting European political landscapes, the U.S. economy was increasingly viewed as a bastion of capital stability, compounding the sovereign debt crisis.

Once the oil shock stopped, the Dollar surge began in October 1980, doubling in value until 1985.

Is history about to repeat? 🤨

A Dollar shortage and sovereign debt crisis, forcing nations to sell their U.S. treasuries back to the U.S. significantly below face value. Effectively taking them out of circulation for pennies on the Dollar.
