Every year we like to pick our favorite European ecosystem of the year. Remember Paris, Munich, Zurich, Stockholm.
I don’t think it matters and as founder I never cared
For customers and investors, I can be in London in the same time I can be in Muc.
For hiring, talent is more ready to move than I’ve seen before. Both directions happen a lot these days.
This is great bc it’s not a zero sum game
This is genuinely wild.
Nearly 50% of all European Venture in 2026 has flown into the UK.
Last year was all about Stockholm, and there were high hopes for AI in Paris.
The overall view was that the rest of Europe was catching up with the UK.
But actually it seems to be pulling away.
It’s obviously too early on in the year to call it but there have been multiple large rounds that have helped the UK dominate:
> @IsomorphicLabs and its $2.1bn Series B
> @nscale and its $2bn Series C
> @wayve_ai and its 1.2bn Series D
> @IneffableLabs and its $1.1bn Seed
> @Recursive_SI and its $650m Seed
> @ElevenLabs and its $500m Series D
There’s also a chance this will help spin the UK flywheel so that the gap grows even more.
The UK is having a phenomenal year in tech.

I'm super excited about this investment, a few notes:
- Ethos unbundles expertise from work - consumers get paid for their unique expertise within a field
- For example, a product manager who specializes in design craft vs execution vs growth would get paid different amounts for different tasks
- The bet is that knowledge is dynamic and ever changing, so building a highly engaged/retained community of human experts is the right model
- And more broadly we think this sets Ethos up to build the intermediary for all forms of finding work and contributing knowledge - from labs to full time jobs
Most importantly, Daniel and James are generational thinkers / A+ humans. We're grateful to be working with them. Let's go!!!
Today Ethos announces our $22.75M Series A led by @a16z, with participation from @generalcatalyst, @xtxmarkets, @MattEvantic, and @_CommonMagic.
Ethos turns what you know into recurring income - matching your expertise to expert calls, research, AI training, fractional work, and full-time roles.
35,000 people are joining Ethos every week. People are making $10,000 every month on Ethos.
AI shouldn’t replace you. It should make you irreplaceable.

Spotted this experiment from March in our Slack. Humans As A Tool. Allowing your agents to discover and reach out to team members in Slack when they’re missing context. I like it a lot.
Perks to attract AI pilled talent:
+ unlimited tokens
+ additional private use tokens
+ mac mini/studio to run local models
+ poke subscription
What else?
Agents will be social. They will move across sites and need to carry provenance proofs.
"If your agent acts on different services, there’s no standard way to reconstruct and attribute that chain of actions in a way both parties trust."

easy because the internet gives you access to learn and do virtually anything. hard because society still runs on narrow identity frames. no one wants a 20-minute answer to 'what do you do.' so you focus on the label, or the main narrative. repeat that often enough and you start believing it's the whole story
@cjc idk - it seems on average it's much easier to waste a paid marketing budget without any impact vs spending tokens without producing anything useful?
