Have watched Ofsted training & taken a few hours to mull things over - ultimately, a sad reflection of how bad things are that so much of this even needed to be said.

Good inspectors already know this stuff & those who really need to hear it will be unaware that it’s for them & will have hated it.

Definitely a step in the right direction but underlying causes of stress (inherent unfairness, unpredictability & high stakes judgments etc) haven’t changed.

Our unions (because they are ours) should be calling for a longer pause of inspections whilst DfE & Ofsted work together on real reform & long-term solutions.

Positive noises but much more needed before we all stop dreading being in the window, waiting for the phone to ring & praying for ‘a decent team.’

A really good question from a great headteacher I know. If a member of staff used the same language as the Home secretary used yesterday, would they be failing in their safeguarding duties if they didn't flag this up with Prevent as a person who has potentially been radicalised?
