@Kristen_Arnett that’s 1200 feet of toxic plastic netting for strangling wildlife and breaking down into micro plastics that will pollute groundwater and end up being ingested by the tiniest organisms at the bottom of the food chain. Score!
"why do we need government intervention in capitalism? Just let the free market solve it."
The "free market" produced child labor, the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire, redlining, sub-prime mortgages, $100,000 ER bills - so many businesses will do anything for a profit if given no rules
Imagine if only licensed reporters were allowed into WH briefings, or to cover the courts or senate hearings. Nobody could read the news on any air unless they met stringent requirements re: fairness, facts, and service to the public good.
Anonymous political spending snatches power from the American people and hands it off to big donors & corporate interests. It’s the force behind voter suppression, partisan gerrymandering, and the capture of our courts. This was never about freedom, only control.
Did you know? In 1975, women of Iceland walked off their jobs & homes, shutting down the entire country, and striked for equal rights. The men could barely cope. Now Iceland has the world’s highest gender equality.
Time to give the United States the Iceland treatment, ladies.
It’s weird because just a few weeks ago conservatives were howling that if we left Afghanistan, women would be punished for their sexual choices by a repressive religious regime out to control their bodies. Imagine.
Let me get this straight. We can’t tell you that you need to wear a mask during a deadly pandemic because “your body, your right” but you’re allowed to police whether a woman is pregnant and seeking an abortion?
What really irks me is men can spread their sperm around haphazardly and not be responsible, and if it happens to fertilize an egg it becomes the woman's problem, but men can still dictate to her what she can or can't do about it.
JOURNALISM 101 RULE: If someone says it’s raining, and another person says it’s dry, it’s not your job to quote them both. Your job is to look out of the fucking window and find out which is true. — Now more than ever.
