The National Archives recently released more than 240,000 pages of records related to the 1968 assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., which cement #MLK as a "titan" and moral leader, a @Northeastern historian says.

It’s Memorial Day weekend and I wanted to share a little family story about a soldier who didn’t come home. Corporal Henry Felt Miller was my great-great grandfather’s brother. He was one of the five Miller boys from Hingham, Massachusetts who fought for Lincoln, the Union, and against slavery in the American Civil War. Henry fought in the Battle of Laurel Hill, and lost his life. He is one of the Americans we remember this day who gave the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. If you ever want a reminder that freedom is not free and are in the South Shore area, take a walk up to the Hingham Cemetery, and you’ll see a beautiful memorial to those other boys in blue who lost their lives in the war that gave this country a new birth of freedom. Sadly, I don’t have a photo of Henry, but I’ve attached one of George O., Henry’s brother and my great-great grandfather.
I often get questions from Massachusetts community college students about our program. For example:
Q: Will it take a long time to finish my degree if I transfer to Northeastern?
A: Not at all! Most transfer students are already halfway to their bachelor’s when they start, since we accept up to 60 credits. Many finish their bachelor’s in about 2 years.
Q: Is the PlusOne master’s pathway really worth it financially?
A: Yes – you can take up to 16 grad credits during your undergrad at no extra tuition. It’s like getting several master’s courses free, which saves you time and money on your graduate degree.

From community college to Northeastern master’s degree – yes, you can do that! Our Interdisciplinary Studies BS at Northeastern CPS is built for Massachusetts community college grads to continue their journey. You transfer up to 60 credits from your associate, then our PlusOne accelerated M.S. in Program Management, Non-Profit Management, Organizational Leadership, and Sports Leadership lets you graduate with two more degrees. Up to 16 of your credits count toward the master’s, so you save tuition and time. And don’t forget, we schedule classes in the evenings and online, which means you can keep living your life while advancing your education. And at approximately $470/credit, it’s affordable. Massachusetts community college students and alums: let’s finish what you started. Your associate degree can launch you into not just a bachelor’s, but even a master’s at Northeastern CPS! Our Interdisciplinary Studies program accepts up to 60 credits you’ve already earned, meaning you’re already halfway to your bachelor’s degree. Even better, our PlusOne accelerated master’s pathway lets you begin taking grad classes in areas like Project Management or Non-Profit Management while you wrap up your bachelor’s. You can count up to 16 of those credits toward both degrees with no extra tuition. We have evening and online classes too, so you can keep working while you study. What did the release of documents related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy reveal? Nothing to change this @Northeastern historian’s view that Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole assassin.

Opposition to military commitments with foreign allies is a political stance with a long history in the Republican Party, says Edward Miller, a political historian at Northeastern University. Its standard-bearer in the 1940s was another Ohio senator, Robert Taft, who opposed U.S. involvement in NATO.
“Vance is a throwback to that Robert Taft, ‘America First’ anti-internationalism,” says Professor Miller, who studies far-right political movements. In 1952, Taft sought the GOP presidential nomination, but lost out to Dwight Eisenhower.
I’m so proud to work for Northeastern’s College of Professional Studies. We really are the college of access and meet students whereever they are. Our college leadership walks the talk.
