No joke, this is why Americans havent completely bought into soccer.
My Achilles would literally have to be stuck on the bottom of this dudes cleat for me to carry on like that.
This joker got the call, stood up, and played the rest of the match. And Balogun gets the rest of this match, and the next, a win or go home off the pitch.
Clown stuff
1) It is possible that I don’t know enough and that’s a perfectly reasonable red card in World Cup play.
2) That call is why soccer will never catch all the way on in the US. To have a guy booted AND then miss a game for that is an outrage.
My son asked me “why is he getting kicked out.” And I said “because he stepped on that guy’s foot.” And then I realized how insane that is.
“Why hasn’t soccer taken off more in America?” As a casual fan, I present to you exhibit A. Balogun has been intentionally held, kicked, fouled harder than this the entire game. Then this no intent, accidental contact foul draws red. Stupid sport can’t get out of its own way.
@PolymarketSport Considering the fact the World Cup is the most elevated stage of this sport - as far as talent and competitiveness - how can this story possibly be true?
@MLB@Phillies@PolymarketSport Mariners fan here. What in the world are we doing in the top 10? Top 10 if they wake up. But lucky to even be in the top 20 right now.
Soccer refs: We 3D-scanned all 1,248 players before the tournament, track every limb 50 times a second, and can confirm you are offside by a toenail. No goal.
Soccer refs: Added time? I'm thinking... seven minutes. Actually, ten. Could be twelve. Hard to say really.
@BosniaNTBall Please do not throw me into the same group as ignorant, self-serving, and self-absorbed American journalists like this one. She does not represent me or millions of other Americans who actually care.
