Imagine trying to explain to someone who has been affected by insecurity that the same terrorists responsible for the pain, suffering, and loss of their loved ones are now being rehabilitated and may eventually be reintegrated into society.

This is why the government, the Nigerian security agencies, and the National Orientation Agency (NOA) must work together to properly educate Nigerians on what is meant by "repentant terrorists."

The public needs to understand the reasoning behind such policies, as well as the balance between justice, accountability, rehabilitation, and peacebuilding.

Without proper communication and transparency, it becomes difficult for victims and affected communities to understand or accept these decisions.

As we continue to call for a better Nigeria, we as citizens must also do our best to treat one another better.
I must say this: anyone who mistreats their house help is wrong. It is cruel and inhumane to treat another person's child in such a manner. We cannot keep calling out bad politicians while ignoring bad behavior among ordinary citizens.
We must all do better.
And to those who continue to bring children into the world without the means or willingness to properly care for them, it is time to think again. Every child deserves care, protection, and an opportunity to have a better future.
A better Nigeria starts with better leadership, but it also starts with better citizens.
