Hockey umpires a question - in yesterday’s World Cup QF games an outfield player with GK privileges was allowed to wear a normal GK OBO left hand pad for defending a PC.

Like the young players, Futures Cup is also the most important development and performance event in the calendar for our young umpires.

A proud day for NYUPL today - one of our alumni, Dan Barstow, is flying to India to umpire at the World Cup.

Dan umpired at the first ever Young Umpire Challenge in 2000 and has gone on to become one of the best in the world.

From an umpire’s perspective, it is possible to defend this without receiving causing a foul. Unfortunately this defender didn’t do it correctly and a card is the correct decision here.
