Wow Mbappé almost never misses big penalties, but that is awful.
No power, barely in the corner. That was similar to Messi’s vs. Egypt. The two best players in the World Cup producing some of the worst penalties at the tournament.
Shows they’re human.
These games simply feel so different when they’re played during the day.
Understand they are doing it for time zone purposes, but every game quarter-final on should be in a dome or played at night.
Is the World Cup rigged against all African nations or was it just an outcry when this happened against Argentina?
No noise when it happened against Uzbekistan?
➜ Mısır'in golü 16 saniye öncesinde yapılan bir faul yüzünden iptal edildi. (3 pas, şut ve gol)
Eee aradaki fark ne???
Sadece Messi'nin maçı olunca mu yapılıyor bu tartışmalar?
So are people going to continue crying about this World Cup being rigged seeing that a set of French referees were appointed against Argentina and then the French manager himself praised said performance?
🚨 Didier Deschamps praises the performance of French referee Letexier [referee of the Argentina vs Egypt match] and hopes the Argentine referee will be at the same level tomorrow.
"I hope the referee will be as good as Mr. Letexier and his assistants like in the match of Argentina and Egypt. My opponent is Morocco, not the referee" @RMCsport
Colombia easily could’ve had a penalty there. Surprised that didn’t at least get a review.
Goes to show though that each set of referees has their own opinions. These calls can completely vary game to game.
Unfortunately this is the standard FIFA have set with VAR.
Any foul leading to a goal is reviewable and cancels the action. It really feels like over-refereeing because it was so far away, but this is the standard they have set.
MESSI FINDS A WAY.
He’s been woeful all night but he’s come alive in the last 5 minutes.
Unbelievable what he can do even on a bad night.
When there’s Messi, there’s a way.
Have rarely seen Messi’s touch been this off in a game.
Everything he’s tried just hasn’t been there. The missed penalty wasn’t there.
Leo is having one of his worst games in a long, long time. Others need to step up.
Egypt are pulling off the unthinkable.
Argentina have now played two of their worst games in the Scaloni era in back to back games. The entire team looks pathetically slow and uninterested.
Vibes are completely different to 2022. This team doesn’t look mentally ready to play.
Tim Vickery has for a long time let his political beliefs get in the way of what were once good footballing takes about Brazil. Wonder if he’d be saying the same if Ney campaigned for Lula instead. Zero legitimacy now and a clown of the highest order; it’s a shame because his stuff was genuinely good in the past.
Tonight’s U.S. performance was the equivalent to Brazil’s 7-1.
The only difference? That Germany side was 10 times better than this Belgium side. This could’ve been so, so much worse.
USMNT players look horribly spooked from the first minute of the game.
The Balogun controversy 100% affected their mental state going into this game. The game became bigger than they could handle and Belgium didn’t have to do anything special.
The United States should be ashamed. After all the hype, this is the performance you put in against THIS Belgium team?
A Belgium team that barely topped their group with New Zealand, Iran, Egypt and required a miracle to get by Senegal. Really, really bad.
