@CogitoEdu You do realize the timeline does not match at all right? The disease death happened in 15th-mid 17th century, and large scale forced relocation events happened 200 years later (19th-start of 20th century)
@CogitoEdu And even if I grant you Europeans somehow intentionally deployed bioweapon against natives. You would still have to subscribe a huge chain of unbelievable ideas i.e. genocide makes people who resemble perpetrator’s offspring less credible to criticize atrocities in another nation
@CogitoEdu 95% percent of death of native Americans are attributed to virus, and the upper range of estimation for typhus death in holocaust is around 100k or 2%. There is no way you can make good faith argument that they are in analogous.
@Celtakes@Rix6145@ItIsHoeMath There is a difference between “making driving safer” and “making road safer”, the former is num of death/num of driver, but it’s asking about the latter which is num of death/total population
@CogitoEdu I didn’t know IPC stood for “Integrated Food Security Phase Classification”, but I have to say this is prob the worst acronym I have ever seen. They include they have I for integration, P for phase and C for classification and somehow missed the Food Security part?
@AlecStapp and some of the more extreme groups would argue "its good to have worse life for energy rich population because they have done something bad in the past". So it is fundamentally futile for us to keep making this kinds of counterargument.
@AlecStapp If you read into the core of "degrowth" advocacy, you will find they are not arguing "less energy won't lead to less quality of life", they KNOW less energy WILL lead of worse quality of life, they are arguing "it's ok to have worse life in order to reduce energy consumption"
@ParacelsusII His comments on cloud capital is even more laughable, Nobody "owns" algorithm. he doesn't seems to understand the difference between algorithm, data, model and computation. And why would he think giving banks and tech company monopoly would be a good thing?
@ParacelsusII He is absolutely clueless. He's talking about banks and state like they are distinct entities, while in reality all chinese banks are state owned. wechat payment system almost got banned by government until they had to impose a withdraw fee.
