@UPS Apparently this was enough to get it from Preston to Paris but no further. Something that should be noted at this point is that the Preston branch of UPS cannot communicate with the Paris, or indeed any other branches, of UPS.

@UPS Two days later I received an email and I thought, that's great it's delivered - nope. It had made it 5 miles up the road to Preston and they were asking for the customs invoices!
I phoned, complained and got them to fill out the invoice at the depot.

I arranged for a parcel to be delivered to France. I did everything asked of me including the bits I didn't understand. I handed the triplicate copies of the customs invoice to the UPS courier who handed them back saying "I only need the label".
