I think my problem with employment is I can never keep my ideas to myself. I haven't ever understood the norms that say you have to earn your right to an "opinion." If I see something broken, I think there's a moral imperative to fix it. #AskingAutistics do you feel this, too?
@bees_warm@laurenancona I nearly bought in Beacon, NY a few years ago. West Point being so close was a major reason I didn't. Sorry for the bad pun and your ears 😆
It not a “cost of living crisis” it’s a cost of existing crisis, food, electricity and gas are not luxuries they are basic necessities and more and more people can no longer afford enough of these necessities.
@edsuom For example, I have a new immune deficiency post covid. My body no longer produces IgA, which fights viruses entering through the respiratory tract. Covid basically turned my body into a perfect recipient for covid.
@edsuom I'm a Columbia-trained data scientist with long covid. The LC studies were all done on 1st infection. I think we need to approach it as if 10-30% of *infections* will lead to LC. Weakened immune systems after repeated infections will likely increase this rate.
@meghasomething I have a related screed brewing on corporate / grind culture co-opting and rebranding ND traits as "hacks." May have to wait until the entire world isn't a goddamn disaster
@oneautisticboy I appreciate your perspective and I agree. I fired him on the spot not 10 min in to the call. I already *was* in crisis. I'm way moreso now than 8 months ago. I'm lucky I was at least able to stick it out long enough to find a therapist who WILL help. Also autistic.
@oneautisticboy Last week, my therapist refused help I requested because, "I don't do things my clients are capable of doing themselves." He promised to do this specific thing when we started working together 8 months ago because he said I wasn't "ready" then. There's a magic window for help?
@EDSJess Big trauma last year. I've always had headaches, subluxations, digestive issues that I'd learned to deal with, but now I'm mainly bedbound. The POTS symptoms are now by far the worst to handle.
If Covid does deplete connective tissue, then #longhaulers should start looking a lot like patients with the connective tissue disorder Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). One of the problems of EDS can be issues in the brain and spine that sometimes require neurosurgery. A thread:
