@NilesGApol Why? Because he has a past and is a more normal person who isnโt a vanilla and polished politician like a Gavin Newsom or your standard Democratic Senator [insert bland Dem here]*
@rashadjtaylor@NilesGApol@KillerMike The BC movement started before the bill happened and during KLB time as Mayor. The bill was in response to that movement. Again, I was in Buckhead at the time. I wasnโt in DC ๐ซค. I saw the signs, passed by BC headquarters often, saw the online chatter, etc etc.
@rashadjtaylor@NilesGApol@KillerMike I think you underestimate how serious of a threat it was, even if โexploited by 2 Trump supporters.โ Signs were everywhere and it was enough of a threat for Dickens to do what he could to calm folks down, address legit community concerns, & seek help from state officials.
@rashadjtaylor@NilesGApol@KillerMike True, it was in 2023, but in response to the years of mess she and Kasim Reed created. She failed and bailed after ONE term for her successor to clean up the mess.
@rashadjtaylor@NilesGApol@KillerMike SB 113 and 114, which died in 2023, thankfully. Mayor Dickens, in cleaning up KLBโs mess, plus Atlanta friendly allies under the gold dome helped squash it. But again though, it was a a serious movement for a while.
Congress has let drug companies rip off Americans for decades.
Lobbyists, campaign cash, and a system that protects industry profits.
But it doesnโt have to be this way.
Congratulations Dr. Alicia Johnson and Peter Hubbard on LANDSLIDE statewide victories in Georgia.
These wins prove the massive grassroots energy powering Georgia Dems and unstoppable turnout juggernaut the Democratic Party of Georgia is building with the leadership of Chair Charlie Bailey.
