Yesterday marked a major milestone for our graduating Chief Residents, Dr. Zafar Dalimov, Dr. @juliaspyu, and Dr. Ahmed Abdalla, as well as Reconstructive Urology Fellow Dr. @TejJDesai
Their leadership, mentorship, and dedication have made such a lasting impact on our residents, patients, and program. As they pass the baton to the next chief class, we are so proud to celebrate all they have accomplished and for what’s ahead.
We know they will continue to make @EinsteinUrology proud in their next chapters! 🎓⚕
Huge congratulations to @tamirsholk on matching at @USC_Urology for Urologic Oncology Fellowship!
Well deserved recognition of years of hard work. USC is getting a fantastic fellow! @USC_Urology@UroOnc#fighton ✌️
Dr. Canning exemplified true leadership- always the first to credit his teammates after big accomplishments and the first to accept responsibility when outcomes were difficult. His humility, integrity , and surgical excellence as Chair of Pediatric Urology at @ChildrensPhila left a lasting impact on generations of trainees and colleagues.
In honor of his legacy, @EinsteinUrology continues to host the annual Dr. Douglas A. Canning Lecture.
This year, @PennUrology’s Dr. @KovellCaleb, director of Genitourinary Reconstruction and Transitional Urology, gave a thoughtful and engaging presentation on bladder augmentation and transitional urology.

Unwinding from my surgical mission trip to Mongolia with IVU. Had a great team of 7 talented and caring surgeons willing to go serve and teach. Honored to be a part of this each year. Amazing hosts, grateful patients land challenging cases. #IVU#societygurs
The beginning of the end 🥲

Congratulations to @ETUroOnc, Professor and Chair of the Department of Urology at Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital, and John Leighton, MD, Division Chair, Hematology and Medical Oncology at Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital, on receiving an American Cancer Society Impact Award – Expanding Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials in the Community.
Funding from this award will support efforts to increase participation of African American men with prostate cancer in clinical trials – an essential step toward advancing equity in cancer care and improving outcomes. Clinical trials provide an avenue for patients to contribute to research findings for future generations and may offer access to new therapies.
Unfortunately, less than 5% of participants in oncology clinical trials are African American men. According to the American Cancer Society, despite declines in overall cancer mortality in the United States, prostate cancer deaths in African American men represent the greatest mortality disparity in oncology.
“Our goal is to increase the accrual of men with prostate cancer onto clinical trial at Einstein, across the whole spectrum of disease and including diagnostic trials, therapeutic trials, longitudinal observational trials and population health trials,” Dr. Trabulsi said.
This award reflects Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital’s ongoing commitment to delivering cutting‑edge treatments and research to the communities it serves. It also reflects the mission of the American Cancer Society to “improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research and patient support to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, find, treat and survive cancer.” @KimmelCancerCtr
Thank you to @JodiAntonelli at @DukeUrology for an insightful Visiting Professor lecture on the development of an ER kidney stone pathway in collaboration with @dukeemergency. Great discussion on improving care for patients with nephrolithiasis.
