The Canadian Severe Storms Laboratory has officially launched at #WesternU. Backed by 60 years of expertise in wind engineering and climate resiliency—and a $20M gift from ImpactWX—it will revolutionize how we understand and prepare for Canada’s most extreme #weather. 🌩️ 🌪️
So much to see at @OntScienceCtr - first stop was to visit the @westernuNTP /@westernuNHP team set up for the long weekend. Great to see so much interest in the display and demos!
@ottawavalleywx@ConnorMockettWX My guess is that ECCC would follow this method as well. I should have been clear this was an overall measurement (not accretion). By this method looks like it’d be max ~0.6” accretion at the time of measurement.
Pics shared from the Ottawa Valley during a break in the freezing rain - about 1”-1.25” ice measured near Pakenham and 0.75” near Fitzroy Harbour #onstorm
My first research job was as an undergrad field assistant for ELBOW 2001. Felt so lucky to be part of that team and tried to learn as much as I could from @dave_sills (which continues to this day). Some great opportunities here for students next summer with NTP and NHP – join us!
The Northern Tornadoes Project & Northern Hail Project are once again hiring interns!
There are exciting opportunities for undergraduate students (any program) and senior high school students during summer 2023.
