@BosCardHunter@darrenrovell You're not getting the Jordans signed obviously. At what point do you stop putting money in just to break even from the loss taken from the rip? 1986 fleer boxes are not a good rip from an ROI perspective. Haven't been for years.
@NikkiNic9384@darrenrovell Yup. Fifty something 1980s tv stars getting $75-100 for selfies taken on your cell phone. Five years ago, Tom Holland photo ops were $250. In today's market, prob 3x
@DarkEyedAngelz@darrenrovell Not really. Photo ops have actually overtaken autograph lines at comicons and have for a few years now. Kids wants pics. Autographs don't increase in value unless it's a manufacturer issued trading card or a top end athlete or celebrity like Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods.
@darrenrovell@MemoryLaneInc Interesting how CGC will allow you to crack a 9.8 or even a 10, get it signed in the presence of a CGC witness and keep the original grade and move it to a gold label but PSA won't. Either the comic industry is more advanced in their thinking or they're controlling the pop
@shockermandan@PlentyOfPivots@CardPurchaser So...no "case hits." Nothing is guaranteed except what is stated on the box which is some variation of auto(s) and/or relic(s) depending on the product and configuration of said product (e.g., hobby, hobby jumbo, retail, mega, etc.). It sounds cool, but it's a farce.
@shockermandan@PlentyOfPivots@CardPurchaser Not satire. Topps does not have "case hits." Topps states the following: "Odds are on a per-pack basis; they do not guarantee that a specific card will be found in any particular pack or box.β
@itsgeoffwilson Sure athletes are charging more for their signatures and the cost of manufacturing and goods is higher as well as the league licensing, but the rest is greed which starts at the point of origination.
@itsgeoffwilson Topps chrome football, for instance, was under $50 per box wholesale back in the late 2000s/early 2010s. So was Bowman Chome (FB), baseball and basketball. What has changed since then that caused the same boxes with the same cost content (i.e., one certified autograph)?
