This week, a 17-year-old female footballer was suspended for six matches, after questioning the presence of a male footballer on the opposition team and being “found guilty” in a kangaroo court convened by the FA. @FA

Many have suggested she should have raised her concerns to officials or coaching staff. This is naive.

Many sports policies that include males in female sports categories handwave to ill-defined processes whereby male players who challenge fairness and safety can be flagged and individually reviewed.

This is lip service.

Players asking questions are being sanctioned, even if they do so discretely and in accordance with club regulations. They are being fined and suspended *by their own teams and coaching staff*. They are being threatened into silence. This latest case only serves to cement that.

The opposition team captain told the girl she shouldn’t be asking questions.

Officials and coaches are too intimidated to do the flagging on behalf of the players. Because they too risk being dragged before the kangaroo courts and sanctioned.

The girls mother said: 'The FA is essentially saying that no woman, when faced with what appears to be a male on the pitch, is entitled to ask a question.' And she’s right.

In light of the Cass review, the @LadiesFootball transgender policy in relation to child welfare and mental health needs to be addressed. LGFA made the unilateral decision to adopt social transitioning and an affirmative approach as orthodoxy - without consulting parents.
