Dublin City Council’s move to strip my grandfather’s name from Herzog Park is deeply troubling.
Chaim Herzog was born in Belfast, attended school in Dublin & fought the Nazis as an Irishman.

@duburbans @DubCityCouncil Blessington Street breaks my heart, it should be one of the loveliest streets in Dublin, leading up to the gorgeous Blessington Basin. What on earth is going on here?
@williamhboney1 Bolton Street this morning, and this is typical. The waste management in the inner city is dysfunctional, - it’s not just the DCC bins overflowing, it’s also the private waste collection system not working.
Everybody on the Burrow Beach,Sutton,Dublin yesterday should know this is what it looked like this morning.Council workers say they’ve never seen the likes of it.Every type of glass/plastic bottles, soiled nappies, barbecues etc etc…

Celebrating and remembering the life-force that was Dervla Murphy, who has died at home at the age of 90. Thank you for your friendship, your principled wisdom, your questing conversation and your unflinching books.
Great speech by John Kerr in House of Lords.
