As well as protecting nests and hatchlings, these organizations also help with turtle rescue and recovery. Despite losing a flipper, this juvenile is being rehabilitated at the aquarium and will soon be released back into the sea! 🤩

James recently visited Palma aquarium in Mallorca where he learnt about the work being done by local organizations to protect sea turtles and their nests in the region

In 2023 loggerhead turtles laid nests in Mallorca for the first time. New nesting events like this in the Mediterranean are thought to be a result of rising sea temperatures pushing turtles into higher latitudes where temperatures are relatively cooler
