Boomer is upset she moved to be closer to her children/grandchildren who are in the middle of living their lives raising children. Doesn't offer to help with any of the day to day, ie become integrated and part of their lives, and is dissatisfied when they're busy and don't have time to entertain her lol
My child: “No, I don’t remember where I took my shoes off 3 minutes ago.”
Also my child: “You told me 5 weekends ago at 3:17 pm that we might get ice cream after school.”
Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
this lady on IG posted about how she's decluttering her house so her loved ones don't have to deal with it when she dies and boomers are having meltdowns in the comments
Smoked cream cheese is straight fire—probably the easiest, most addictive thing I throw on the smoker or grill every single time.
Take a full block of cream cheese, score the top in a tight cross-hatch pattern so the smoke and seasoning really get in there. Hit it heavy with your favorite rub—everything bagel seasoning, Cajun, BBQ, garlic parmesan, whatever you’re feeling. Then drizzle on some fruit preserves or orange marmalade for that sweet-salty-smoky magic.
Set it on the smoker at 225-250°F for about 45-60 minutes until it’s soft, melty around the edges but still holding shape. Pull it, let it rest a minute, then dive in with crackers, sliced baguette, celery, or even thin jerky strips for extra protein.
It’s stupid simple, ridiculously good, and disappears faster than anything else on the table. Sweet, savory, smoky perfection in one block. Highly recommend you try it this weekend.🔥
I have come to the conclusion for a while now that we are not going to be able to convince people who don't see the value in kids to have them. Whether you want to call it a spiritual malaise or a personal choice the reason for their decision is not based on economics and no amount of reasonable incentives will change that.
There are only two ways to change demographics. The first step is to improve the dynamics between men and women and help those who WANT marriage and family but are single to meet each other and get together. This facilitation of family formation is my vocation.
But the most effective lever for the state to raise birthrates is to focus on people who already have kids and make it easier for them economically to have more. It's a much more natural sell. If every childrearing family had 1-2 more children the demographic situation would change dramatically, and this indeed may begin to shift the culture around having children altogether.
That said, even with all these efforts birthrates will continue to decline for the next 15-20 years across the world - the rot is too deep, the window has been missed for too many. But by the 2040s they will eventually stabilize and even begin growing again, especially in developed nations. This shift will be entirely driven by the offspring of today's natalists / conservatives who are likely to continue to value family.
As I keep saying - it is a genetic bottleneck. The future will belong to those who show up for it.
