@BobbyKing413@KayLFC05_ In La Liga it's a bit different because if you win the title on the final matchday and it's an away match, the winning team won't lift the trophy till next season in their first home league match. This happened to Atleti in 2014 and Real Madrid in 2017
@xtthelighthouse@World_Affairs11 Plus if a host nation is not willing to accommodate then the nation could be stripped of hosting rights and face other punishments
@Amosbryan005@BarcaTimes@memorabilia1899 It was mainly due to kit clashes but in the 15/16 season, Barรงa's kit had red shorts which didn't clash with Atleti's blue shorts. Since, they used red shorts and socks this season against Espanyol, they can wear them as there's no kit clash with Atleti's blue shorts and socks
@Benjaminwatp_@CaptainHin38747@90sfootball He probably isn't that old enough to remember. Even I wasn't around then to see this competition (born a year later after abolished) but I've done my research and this was a very well respected and underrated European competition. I would've love to see the Cup Winners Cup today
@CaptainHin38747@90sfootball Actually it was merged with the UEFA Cup (UEL), not scrapped with no replacement. The UEL today is what we still have of the Cup Winners Cup as domestic cup winners do qualify for the UEL
@GibsoonCorp@90sfootball But not the UCL and certainly doesn't help much in the debate of the biggest club in London regarding European success. Arsenal would be 3rd in that debate
@CaptainHin38747@90sfootball That's what you think but you got it all wrong. In case you didn't know, this competition was regarded as the second most prestigious European club competition after the UCL/European Cup . It was on the same level as the UEL today. Winning this competition was a big deal.
@Albion_Nav@90sfootball They had this name because it was a European competition that featured domestic cup competition winners hence the name "Cup Winners"
@FCBLobBronx@90sfootball They merged it with the UEFA Cup (Europa League) as to qualify for the Cup Winners Cup is by winning your respective Domestic Cup Competitions like the FA Cup or Copa del Rey which is how teams can also qualify for the UEL today
