@zantar9@DrJStrategy Hedge funds usually push momentum trades one way to force the issue for fun and profit. They take no prisoners. The asset managers (retirement and pensions) are long on the other side of the trade. I hope the asset managers win. For us all.
We had tickets in amongst the UM donor section, so we watched the game in peace. They were nice enough. But there is a good segment of the fan base there that was every bit as rough redneck hillbilly as you can imagine. I've never seen that behavior in Norman. Maybe it happens, but I've never seen it.
Me and my friend almost got trapped in the bathroom on the East side by a group and angry drunk mob. We barely got out of there and when we were walking to the car just barely outside of the stadium fights broke out. We ran to our car as quickly as possible. Alongside many sober Mizzou fans too. I swore I'd never go back there for a game.
Arkansas booster John Tyson was asked why he canโt do for the Razorbacks what Texas Tech booster Cody Campbell has done for the Red Raiders:
โWell, heโs got oil, Iโve got chickens.โ
During a discussion during cruise today, my First Officer raised an insightful technical point regarding the Flydubai incident that I think got overlooked: the counterintuitive advantage of manual reversion.
In simulator training, pilots dread dual hydraulic failure. Without hydraulic assistance, the Boeing 737 reverts to mechanical cables and tabs. Control forces become extremely heavy, and aerodynamic response is sluggishโmuch like driving a heavy vehicle without power steering.
Yet, in this scenario, that sluggishness likely saved the airframe.
With both engines cut and hydraulic pressure lost, pulling back on the yoke required massive physical effort to achieve even marginal control surface deflection. When the untrained plumber hauled back on the controls, the aerodynamic response was dampened enough to arrest the steep dive without generating catastrophic G-forces.
Had hydraulic systems remained fully powered, an abrupt, panicked pull on the yoke could have easily overstressed the airframe, risking structural breakup.
Paradoxically, the engine shutdown that threatened the flight also enforced the mechanical damping needed to survive the recovery.

@TeslaLarry This is awesome. We are thinking of getting one with FSD when my wife retires. I hope the range is better by then and we can use it to snowbird in Florida in comfort and safety.
@SandyofCthulhu It is okay and legal in Oklahoma. The reasoning is that any object inside your home could turn into a weapon used by the perp. You are entitled to your home as a safe space where no one can harm you.
