Donald Trump’s failure to fight the coronavirus with the same energy and focus that he uses to troll his enemies on Twitter has cost us lives — and is putting hope for an economic recovery at risk.
The Occupant of the @WhiteHouse tear gassed peaceful protestors for a photo opp.
Horrifying.
This man is dishonoring his oath, inciting violence & failing the nation.
The Episcopal bishop of DC – who oversees the DC church Trump just stopped at – tells the @washingtonpost she is "outraged" and that neither she nor the rector was asked or told… “that they would be clearing with tear gas so they could use one of our churches as a prop.." 1/3
If you want to know why we have no national testing program, you just need to listen to what Trump said yesterday:
“By doing all this testing,” Trump said, “we make ourselves look bad.”
The lack of tests isn’t accidental. It’s by design.
"What I've gotten back is that vendors with whom we had contracts are now being told not to send stuff here to Michigan,” said Michigan’s Democratic Governor. “It's really concerning."
“When they’re not appreciative to me”, Trump said of Democratic governors. “It’s not right.”
The coronavirus is not Donald Trump's fault, but his inept response is.
He ignored the warnings for months, downplayed the threat it posed, and failed to take the action needed to combat the outbreak.
It's one of the greatest failures of presidential leadership in our history.
President Trump at the White House just now talking about coronavirus: "You can call it a germ. You can call it a flu. You can call it a virus. You can call it many different names. I'm not sure anyone even knows what it is."
We knew it could happen.
We knew it *would* eventually happen.
So:
We left them a playbook.
We left them an expert NSC team.
We built a transition exercise around it.
We built new programs to prepare for it.
They ignored/closed/undermined all of that.
This is horseshit.
We now know Trump was briefed on th coming Coronavirus on 12/22/2019. How many more ventilators, N95 masks & protective gear could we have had if we had a real president? He knew but chose to let us die, instead.
Here's Mitch McConnell responding to a female reporter's extremely straightforward question about the coronavirus bill by condescendingly asking her, "do you work here?"
That was a piss poor performance by the reporters in the briefing room. Just embarrassing.
There is zero reason to give the President a free campaign commercial every day where he's free to spread misinformation that could kill people.
Republicans put more strings and means-testing on single parents and struggling mom + pops than they do on multibillion dollar corporations that don’t pay taxes.

Only one country has multiple days with >10,000 new cases: US (China had 1).
Only one country has multiple days with >8,000 new confirmed cases reported: US (China had 1).
If this is flattening the curve, then... ???
My mother is not expendable. Your mother is not expendable.
We will not put a dollar figure on human life.
We can have a public health strategy that is consistent with an economic one.
No one should be talking about social darwinism for the sake of the stock market.
