2020/21 Y4 med school I received over £9800 from @SF_England as maintenence loan to live off. My final year 2022/23 under the NHS Bursary system I will get £4635. A £5201 reduction. My family finance situation has not changed. The NHS Bursay is a cruel joke. #LiveableNHSBursary
In 2008 a Plumber charged us £30/hr
Now he is charging £60/hr for same job
He has refused to do the job for £45/hr despite me offering him “50% pay rise”
He still wants 35% more as he says current market rate is £60/hr-There has been inflation&cost of living is up
Who is greedy ?
Doctors currently earn £18.62 an hour, they are asking for £22.67 an hour. Their assistants get paid £24.45 an hour.
How can @wesstreeting defend paying doctors less than their assistants?
@RCPhysicians has voted for more of the same. If you are upset about this please consider not paying them another penny and donating to a group fighting on behalf of doctors and patients. The college won’t help, perhaps their members can.

‘I’m a doctor but next year I won’t have a job’
In 2024, there were 12,743 training posts available, with 10,628 UK graduates and 14,868 international graduates applying

Please read. As always amazing writing. There are not enough characters allowed on this app to explain the failings and corruption that have led to this mess.
The whole point of @gmcuk is to keep patients safe from harm.
But what if, like OFWAT & OFCOM, it’s turning into another politically-neutered, failing regulator?
I cannot stand silently by as @gmcuk fails patients in the PA debacle.
Here’s why 👇

@Mike88881221@RCPCHtweets Tbf. When as a college you were effectively complicit & enabling of it (which we have seen evidence of) what could we expect. They have failed to uphold standards of child protection (& by extension health). Time for EGM & overhall of the current status quo. They are a danger rn
Today the @AoMRC - supposedly the defender of the once world-leading standards of UK medicine - claimed that doctors' concerns over the use of PAs was “almost devoid of factual information”.
Is this factual enough for you?
The misuse of PAs at @AlderHey that @Mike88881221 is uncovering is just shocking.
Physician Associates, unregistered and unregulated, performing the first (only?) forensic medical examination in child protection cases, where children have been abused, despite knowing 1/5
Putting aside the ridiculous claim on safety issues
Acknowledgement in the blurb about loss of training opportunities
Yet no request to view from that perspective
@AoMRC showing again they don’t actually care about resident doctors
Is this representative of royal colleges?
This is the equivalent of a PA performing a forensic postmortem. I am ashamed that this is the health service I am working and training in. @RCPCHtweets your silence is deafening and it is shocking you are not calling this out. Absolute abject failure of the college and standards
Is the truth finally emerging? @AlderHey corporate risk register 👇
"There is a risk that Child Protection (CP) Medical Examinations completed by Physician Associates (PAs)
may not result in successful prosecution due PAs not being recognised as 'Professional Witnesses'."

There is nothing 'junior' about junior doctors. This afternoon #ARM2024 recognises this and has voted through proposals to rename to “RESIDENT DOCTORS” from September 2024.
More details to follow... #RDC coming soon!
Rishi Sunak says independent Treasury civil servants costed Labour's spending plans.
The Treasury told me: "Any interpretations and assumptions are made and set by ministers and special advisers, ensuring the role of officials is limited to providing factual information."
Here’s my payslip as a first year doctor in 2005, next to a first year doctor colleague’s in 2023. 18 years later, their take home salary is less than mine was. I lived for free in hospital accommodation and had a fraction of their student loan.

Based on some recent conversations, I felt like a thread was needed on some of the issues surrounding medical training, and how they intersect with the long term workforce plan.
Buckle in for a long one

@ExplosiveEnema@BWC_NHS @FPARCP Seniors who enabled this effectively abandoning your colleagues coming through behind you denying them the training clinical opportunities & mentorship you had all whilst abolishing clinical standards. Shame on you. The new generation will never forgive you whilst we fix the mess
@ollieburtonmed@JoOgidi@NHSE_WTE@TheBMA There is actually a large body of research (research and not just 'opinion' - I mean data & peer review) for the opposite. Esp from US where these roles originated from & have been around longer. HEE have really made an own goal here, Esp as scope of practice still not defined!
Can proudly say I've irritated the tf out of my flatmate all day with my #DrWho joy as well as projecting my complete and utter trauma that I'm working long days all weekend and hence missing the #DoctorWho60 special. Soz.
When I do my nights, I'm responsible for half the medical wards in the hospital. There is no such thing as close supervision!
(Ps all my med SpRs I've had have been 🤩, no dig what-so-ever... im just loling at the "close supervision" that people think I work under... cos 🐂 💩)
