There’s reason to believe there might be a correlation and I’m glad to lead a research on this.
The implication of this research is that it would guide antiviral prophylaxis or transfusion protocols to reduce disease burden in this high-risk population.
I Had a pretty productive and fulfilling week.
Started off at the #NigeriaSenate collaborating on the draft amendment of a legislation which earlier passed first reading. It defines timelines for management of Emergencies in our ER in Nigeria; Peds, Med, Obstetrics and Accident.
I also successfully engaged and signed an MOU with a high stake partner for an upcoming Clinical Research project that seeks to explore (if any) the correlation between a herpes family viral load and disease severity in Sickle Cell Disease patients aged 5–30 in Nigeria.
