I wanted to be a Navy fighter pilot.

To secure a Navy flight contract, I sought an appointment at the US Naval Academy, where the most slots were available. I was admittedly terrified of the Marines at first. With time, fear shifted to curiosity, and then to admiration. The Marine instructors’ unwavering standards, unmatched fitness, and next-level display of pride and professionalism were something I came to deeply respect. It became less about “what” I wanted to do and more about “who” I aspired to become.
When I was assigned “Marine Pilot” at service selection, I was thrilled. Just weeks before graduation, I was medically disqualified. What felt like rejection at the time turned out to be one of the most magnificent redirections of my life. I cannot imagine landing in a specialty better aligned with my passions and am grateful for the time spent with the Marine Corps COMMSTRAT community.
Much like the story shared here, my journey in the military wasn’t what I originally envisioned, but it led me to become the person I’m proud to be today.
The most common type of photographic misinformation I have encountered is the direct result of the Broken Telephone Effect.
It's simple, it's easy to mess up, and it can lead to atrocity denial.
A thread.
@ChowdahHill What’s to consider? Multiple independent media outlets all reported that the “misinformation” was actually disinformation. The Opinion piece makes that very point in the opening paragraph (journalist inspected flight deck/nothing wrong) & then Mr. Lesser states opposite?
As we get ready to celebrate Independence Day, our teammates at @NavalSafetyCmd remind us about fireworks safety. We need our #Sailors , #Marines and #DON teammates safe throughout the holiday weekend!
Today in 1863, a 34-year-old college professor from Maine named Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain helps fend off repeated Confederate attacks against the left flank of the Union line at Gettysburg. The fight for Little Round Top will become one of the battle's most celebrated moments.
Military leaders should not fear putting themselves out there. But remember Rule #1: Talk less about yourself and more about the under-appreciated warriors who are working hard and sweating with little pay in the most inhospitable places on the planet. They are the future of our republic. #ThisIstheWay
In an effort to save civilian mariner lives, CENTCOM forces destroyed two Houthi uncrewed surface vessels (USV), one uncrewed aerial system (UAS), and seven coastal radars yesterday.

We're taking safety to new heights with a full-scale barricade drill aboard #MightyIKE! 🛳️💪 The purpose of the drill is to simulate what to do in the case of a crash landing. The barricade is put in place to catch the aircraft.
