So starting his clock is no more of an issue now than it would be later in the season. He won't be able to accrue a full year of service time.

@ItsMattSzat This is just basic economics. Pete wants more money than the Mets want to give him. The Mets know that no other team will pay him that. So it makes sense for the Mets to wait. It doesn't make sense for the Mets to bid against themselves.
