@kidney_boy Ran into it on U2D while looking for small cuff size as a cause: “A marked rise in BP caused by cuff inflation during self-measurement (cuff inflation hypertension) may result in some patients from the physical exertion needed to inflate the cuff or from anticipatory anxiety.”
@AMIAinformatics Limit the scope of documentation to clinical documentation (what’s needed to care for patient, communicate b/w providers, & manage care over time), requiring regulations, billing, admin, measures, etc to find ways to get data other than requiring providers to generate it for them
@HoldenGroves@judywawira@Dr_Oubre Secure chat has replaced pagers for us, making it useful for urgent matters (interruption) and inappropriate for non-urgent messages…at least in the outpatient context. It’s like saying “Stop what you’re doing and listen! This patient needs a refill in the next few days.”
@HoldenGroves@judywawira@Dr_Oubre Send to inbox (1-click to move a conversation that is more appropriate as inbox message to inbox and inform sender it was done)
e.g.:
Chat: “Patient asking for Norco refill”
Response: “Your message was moved to inbox. Consider using inbox for similar messages in the future.”
This "documentation" is harming patients by wasting everyone's time and diluting clinically useful communication. All systems or processes that incentivize creation of this lard need to be fixed for all of our sakes. Not a new problem: https://t.co/qsDej5pT0q

Instead of the self-defeating slogan #DefundThePolice, how about #NotJustPolice? We can all agree the U.S. needs a more thoughtful and robust solution to public safety of which police are only a part. And when those few police behave badly, protesters can shout "Not just!"
