My pro-immigration misinformation piece that will probably annoy almost everyone is finally out. If you care about democratic trust or are just curious what liberal elites don't want to say out loud, this is for you.
Feel free to tell me why I'm wrong.
In this piece, @MHackman reports "DHS and ICE officials didn’t publicize or broadly distribute the legal decision, predicting that it would invite legal scrutiny."
Also, they did a pilot program in Minnesota last year, unrelated to the recent surge
I've been asked about @MigrationPolicy's reform proposals for DHS so am sharing 2 in-depth reports that still have a lot applicable to today:
(1) Toward a Better Immigration System: Fixing Immigration Governance at DHS

Big scoop from @ruskygal. But also, remember when this started with the Alien Enemies Act?
"Immigration officers assert sweeping power to enter homes without a judge's warrant, memo says"

Interesting appointment of the new high commissioner for refugees, Someone who has experienced political persecution, torture and exile, good luck to High Commissioner Barham Ahmed Salih of Iraq
Book review!
My thoughts on Nik Tan's excellent and thought-provoking new study, 'Transnational asylum: towards a principled framework'
https://t.co/HfRB99PkNK
On our World of Migration podcast, Vincent @cochetel makes the case that to safeguard the strained global refugee protection system, protections should be ended for people no longer at risk
Wondering if any German colleagues have seen anything about this in German sources?
It's not something that's come across my radar nor have I had any luck searching for more info.
"Rwanda agrees to take up to 250 migrant deportees
Rwanda is the latest African country to head Trump administration’s demands to receive third country migrants."

US to start sending deported migrants to Rwanda. Very much not the first time this has been tried. Rwanda has a long history of this sort of agreement with high-income countries, beginning with Israel in 2013.

Just announced: UK-France readmission agreement is set to come into force today. UK announcement says that the European Commission has found the agreement to be legal, which wasn't previously reported.

The Times is also reporting that applicants for the pathway will be prioritized based on family ties and nationality (i.e. high grant rate nationalities would be prioritized). Link below.
