@patrickCDEmath extracting remainder. Which is really what people use % for in a lot of computer science stuff. From a math perspective I see it as the same, since remainder when divided by x is really just what’s left when we write out the factors of a number and ignore copies of x

@patrickCDEmath Without loss of generality, injective, orthogonal, up to. I push modulo whenever I can, my boss at work got a kick out of it in an email. It slightly bums me out when I see people use modulo while thinking the math version is different and just means the comp sci operator
