After my wife delivered, her breast milk had not started flowing, and we were advised not to give the baby glucose water. After more than six hours without feeding, a senior nurse recommended NAN 1 formula.

I rushed to the nearest supermarket and bought a tin for ₦10,200. My mother-in-law was shocked, saying she bought the same NAN 1 for about ₦2,000 around 2018.

At that point, I started praying seriously for breast milk to flow.

Hadith No:1/430 Umdatul Ahkam.
(Chapter One: The book of purity)

On the authority of Umar ibn Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say:
‘Actions are only by intentions.’ And in another narration: ‘by intention.’
‘And every person will only have what they intended. So, whoever's migration was for Allah and His Messenger, then his migration was for Allah and His Messenger. And whoever's migration was for some worldly gain he might achieve, or a woman he might marry, then his migration was for whatever he migrated for.”

Do you know that when a Muslim becomes critically ill, especially when death appears to be approaching, Islam teaches us to prepare them spiritually while still seeking treatment and praying for recovery?

We remind them of Allah and gently pronounce Lā ilāha illaLlāh in their presence, hoping that it becomes their final declaration if death comes. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Prompt your dying ones to say: Lā ilāha illaLlāh.” (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim). Qur'ān may also be recited, supplications made, and the person encouraged to maintain a good expectation of Allah.

Islam similarly emphasises documenting debts and financial obligations so that a person does not die leaving unknown debts, trusts or responsibilities behind. Death is therefore not something Islam teaches us to think about only when it happens; preparation for death is part of preparation for life.

When death eventually comes, the Muslim is immediately taught submission, patience and remembrance:

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return.”
(Qur'ān 2:156)

And Allah says:

مِنْهَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ وَفِيهَا نُعِيدُكُمْ وَمِنْهَا نُخْرِجُكُمْ تَارَةً أُخْرَىٰ

“From the earth We created you, into it We shall return you, and from it We shall bring you out once again.”
(Qur'ān 20:55)

This captures the Islamic worldview beautifully: from the earth we came, to it we return, and from it Allah will raise us again.

We grieve because we are human, but we submit because we are Muslims. We mourn our loved ones, yet we pray, remain grateful to Allah and hope for reunion in the Hereafter.

This is why Muslims care deeply about ḥusn al-khātimah, a good ending. For us, how we leave this world matters as much as how we live in it.

May Allah grant us righteous lives, ḥusn al-khātimah, and make Lā ilāha illaLlāh our final declaration. Āmīn.

When a person comes out to say they saw the Prophet in a dream, it is a very serious claim. Islam is a religion of evidence, and there is a clear scholarly framework to gauge the truth of such a statement.

The foundation of this is the authentic Hadith recorded in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

من رآني في المنام فقد رآني، فإن الشيطان لا يتمثل في صورتي
Whoever sees me in a dream has indeed seen me, for Shaytan cannot take my shape.

This gives us a guarantee, but it also creates a strict condition. Shaytan cannot take his true form. However, Shaytan can appear in the form of a random man with a white beard and tell a sleeping person that he is their Prophet.

This is why the early scholars had an acid test. Whenever someone came to Muhammad Ibn Sirin, the famous interpreter of dreams, claiming to have seen the Prophet, Ibn Sirin would tell the person to describe who they saw.

If the physical description did not match the known features of the Messenger of Allah, Ibn Sirin would tell them bluntly that they did not see him.

How do we know his physical features today?

This is where the books of Shama'il come in. The most recognized is the Shama'il al-Muhammadiyya compiled by Imam Tirmidhi. It documents every physical detail of the Prophet, from the broadness of his shoulders and the wave of his hair, to the way he walked and the seal of prophethood on his back.

If a person describes someone that aligns with Imam Tirmidhi's compilation, then glad tidings to them. If the description contradicts the Shama'il, they saw somebody else.

There is one final boundary scholars always draw here. Even if a person sees the Prophet in his true form, a dream can never be used to establish a new Islamic ruling or introduce a new act of worship.

The religion was completed while he was alive. If someone claims the Prophet gave them a new special prayer or practice in a dream, it is rejected. Dreams bring glad tidings, but they do not bring new Shari'ah.

Anytime I’m traveling from Nigeria back to my base in Europe, I always see them at the airport, they’re very easy to spot, they’re in their numbers & you’ll see them with an elderly woman who’s their agent, their destination is either Iran/Iraq, Oman, Saudi & other Middle East country, they’re always very happy & excited for a better future, inside of me, I shed a tear silently, they’ve sold to them a non-existing dream.

I made this point to one of my lecturers in Ibadan back in 2023. I said that maybe one of the reasons Nigeria is the way it is today is because we are ungrateful people.

If you listen to this woman well, you will realize that Nigeria has never been good to Nigerians. What we see as good is just the bad of the past. We only weigh our struggles and say today is worse than yesterday.

This is not a matter of Tinubu. God is never happy with ungrateful people. That is why our efforts are not yielding anything meaningful as a country.

Nigeria is the only country where its citizens don’t pray for it. Instead, they curse it.

Until we learn to be grateful, what is coming will always be worse than what we have now.

Someone texted me on this app that my department in ABU held the yearly orientation session for new students where they displayed my entire results from 100 level to final semester in order to motivate new students to succeed. My department admits over 250 students in its combined program in every academic session. During the same year, someone sent a snapshot of my story being presented by EU in Nigeria to use me as a motivation for new Erasmus scholars to succeed in Europe.

Eating does not invalidate your ablution.

The general rule in Islamic jurisprudence is built on a famous principle in Fiqh, famously stated by the companion Ibn Abbas:

إنما الوضوء مما خرج وليس مما دخل
Ablution is only broken by what exits the body, not by what enters it.

This means using the restroom or passing wind breaks Wudu, but eating a meal does not.

There was a time in early Islam when eating food cooked over fire required Wudu, but the Prophet (peace be upon him) later cancelled that ruling. This concept in Islamic jurisprudence is called Naskh (abrogation), which is a situation where a later ruling comes to cancel or replace an earlier one.

However, there is one major exception: Camel Meat.

If you eat camel meat, whether cooked or raw, your Wudu is broken and you must perform it again before praying.

There is a famous Hadith on this:

أن رجلا سأل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أتوضأ من لحوم الغنم قال: إن شئت فتوضأ وإن شئت فلا توضأ. قال: أتوضأ من لحوم الإبل؟ قال: نعم فتوضأ من لحوم الإبل.

A man asked the Prophet (peace be upon him): "Should I perform Wudu after eating mutton?" He said, "If you wish, perform Wudu, and if you wish, do not perform Wudu." The man then asked: "Should I perform Wudu after eating camel meat?" The Prophet said: "Yes, perform Wudu after eating camel meat."

Therefore, unless you are eating camel meat, your Wudu (ablution) is perfectly valid.

Malam Habu, I am interested in this discussion, as a student of energy economics & policy management. It is a topic that I believe should be debated.

I actually support @atiku 's argument for the reintroduction of a fuel subsidy; but I do not mean the old, opaque subsidy regime, that is open to abise & corruption.

That your "𝑮𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒐𝒓𝒔 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒂𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒆 𝒌𝒆𝒉", caught my attention because I have always argued that they, & the FG are the biggest beneficiaries of all these jumbos & not the common man. For me, Dr. Hidima, a targeted, capped, transparent subsidy that reduces the price of petrol to, for instance, ₦400–₦500 per litre for Nigerians, while the govt covers only the verified differential is POSSIBLE!

As per your maths:

A market price of say, ₦1,300 means the govt absorbs ₦900 per litre:

50 million litres per day × ₦900 = ₦45 billion per day

This translates to:

₦1.35 trillion per month
₦16.4 trillion per year!

At first glance, this appears unsustainable.

However, this is where the discussion should be interesting.

Taiwo Oyedele has noted that the government mobilised approximately ₦15.8 trillion for the Federation over 31 months following the subsidy removal and FX reforms.

This averages about ₦510 billion per month. Thus, a ₦16 trillion annual subsidy would indeed be substantial. For me, no one should suggest that govt should issue an uncapped ₦16 trillion expenditure.

The question, for me Malam Habu is, why can't we design a system that subsidises only the first 15–20 litres purchased by households weekly? This is doable.

For Example, Malaysia monitors fuel consumption using 𝐌𝐲𝐊𝐚𝐝 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, similar to our NIN and caps subsidized RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre up to a monthly limit (such as 200–300 litres). The same Malaysia does support its older citizens of say, 60 & above with 50% fare reductions on select public transit systems like Rapid KL and KTMB. Not only that, low-income older adults may qualify for specific welfare grants like Bantuan Warga Emas (BWE).

Why can't we focus subsidies on public transportation and commercial operators rather than universal consumption?

Why can't we gradually phase out the subsidy in line with improvements in domestic refining capacity? This was what a lot of us expected. For instance, as PH1 comes on stream, 35% subsidy would go. As PH2 comes on stream, another 35% goes. When Warri comes alive, another 20% goes, and when Kaduna comes onboard, 100% subsidy would be removed!

Again, why can't we design a subsidy framework that renders smuggling economically unviable?

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞.

The technological tools already exist to monitor petroleum distribution. 𝐖𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝!

We can implement digital truck registration systems, depot-to-station tracking, electronic invoicing, GPS and geofencing technologies, and full reconciliation of refinery output, depot receipts, logistics movements, and retail sales. Our organisation can provide this service perfectly! Stations whose reported volumes are inconsistent with their customer base can be audited. Subsidy payments should be made strictly on the basis of verified domestic consumption. If a litre is diverted across the border illegally, it should not attract any subsidy payment.

This is straightforward.

Also, what I observe is that, anytime we are debating on this issue, it is always presented as a binary choice:

Nigerians, you either buy fuel at ₦1,300 per litre OR we "waste" ₦16 trillion paying subsidy.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐲.

𝐔𝐧𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨, there is defined a third option:

𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Government can subsidise essential and vulnerable consumption without extending the same benefit to unlimited or luxury consumption, as explained above & it is done in other countries.

Why would you leave Islam for Atheism?

Haleemah, reading your post is sad, but it reveals a very common tragedy. You can claim to be religious, pray five times a day, have the dark mark on your forehead, and stay up for Tahajjud.

But if your foundation is built purely on rituals without knowledge, any small breeze will knock you down.

This was the core of my last lecture with the MSSN students at FUPRE some weeks back. We spent time unpacking this exact topic to prove the existence of God.

The goal was to make people understand that to attain Yaqeen (true certainty) in your faith, you need rational observation and conviction. Faith is not meant to be blind. It requires active reasoning.

Your core problem is glaring. You had all the outward actions of faith but lacked the intellectual grounding of Aqeedah. When those three girls challenged you to prove God exists, you failed the test.

The real issue is not that you lacked the answer in that moment. We all have blind spots. The tragedy is concluding that because you lacked the answer, no answer exists.

Why not ask those who are superior to you in knowledge? The fact that you do not know something does not mean there is no answer for it. You only allowed Shaitan to trick you into abandoning your foundation.

If you are ever confronted with this question again, here is a model answer you should say confidently:

It comes down to the undeniable law of cause and effect. Everything that begins to exist has a cause. The universe has a beginning, so it must have a cause outside of itself.

This cause must be uncaused, timeless, spaceless, and immensely powerful to bring space, time, and matter into existence.

Beyond that, look at the precision of the universe. The sheer design, balance, and fine-tuning of the cosmos point directly to an Intelligent Designer.

If you walk in the desert and find a complex wristwatch in the sand, common sense tells you a watchmaker built it. It did not assemble itself over billions of years by chance. The universe is infinitely more complex than a watch.

We do not believe in a Creator because of storybooks. We believe because logic, science, and the reality of creation demand that a Creator exists. You build your faith on rational conviction, not just emotion.

Those who are a bit knowledgeable amongst them might rush in with multiverse theories, quantum fluctuations, or asking "who created God"?

Here, I want you to understand that infinite regressions are logically impossible. A multiverse still requires a generator, quantum particles do not create themselves from absolute nothingness, and by definition, the Ultimate First Cause must be uncaused.

And to you aethist, I know you all will flood my page. I am ready for you all. It’s high time I focused on you guys to let the world know that you people are tools of Shaitan.

✅I know a way out.

What I want to share with you here tonight is sourced directly from the book called Firdaws al-Hikma by Ali ibn Sahl Rabban al-Tabari.

The al-Tabari said regarding this remedy: qad jaraba (قد جرب), meaning it has been tested and tried.

If you are a person of faith, let this reach him so that he can try it. I am confident he will give thanks to Almighty God.

He should go and get the following three oils:

1) Zait al-Habbatus Sawda (Black Seed Oil)
2) Zait al-Laymun (Lemon Oil)
3)Zait al-Thum (Garlic Oil)

NB: There is a caveat here. These oils MUST be Number 1. There are grades to it. Tell them specifically that you want Number 1 grade.

Mix these three oils together. The person should be taking 5 ml in the morning and 5 ml at night.

Along with the oils, the person should consistently listen to Ruqya recitation every single day for a good 90 days.

By the grace of Allah, he will bounce back to life and he will thank Almighty God.

LET'S TALK ABOUT ABUJA TRANSPORT, BECAUSE MY LEGS ARE PAINING ME.

I calculated how much I spent on transport last month in Abuja and I almost fainted.

My salary is 120k.

Transport breakdown:
Monday - Friday: Lugbe to Wuse = 2,000k to and fro x 20 days = 40,000k
Weekend waka for market = 10,000
Bolt when I late (at least 4 times) = 18,000k
Keke from junction to house when I too tired = 8,000k

Total = 76,000k for transport ALONE inside one month.

76k Out of 120k For transport wey bus go spoil for road, keke go carry 5 people for 3 seats, and you go still trek under sun.

I never even buy food, data, or send little amount to my family.

Abuja transport is a full-time job on its own. You leave house 5am, you reach office tired. You close 5pm, you reach house 9pm. Your life is inside traffic.

If you live in Abuja, tell me truth - HOW MUCH DO YOU SPEND ON TRANSPORT MONTHLY? And which route is the worst?

Me: Lugbe to Wuse = 76k last month. I'm already considering relocating to trekable distance 😭
