What you people don’t know is that, aside from making noise here, I actually go into the streets and talk to people about why Ghana must work. Trotro drivers, traders, shop owners, workers and random people.

Whenever I’m outside, I try to speak to at least 100 people about what isn’t working, what we deserve and why ordinary people have to start believing that this country can actually work for us too.

The movement cannot live only online. It has to enter the streets. This is Madina market. Ghana must work!

You will defend someone with security, access, influence and a comfortable life against a citizen asking questions, while your own family is still dealing with the consequences of bad governance. That is a special kind of misplaced loyalty.

I have just been engaged by a Former Ghanaian military officer currently serving in a foreign army. He told me that he has been following my work since last year about an Intel I posted a week before Ghanaian tomatoes traders were killed in Baukina Faso and asked me to share with him some of the important security matters I have raised that the nation has acted upon.

He said people like me are needed in security intelligence, but unfortunately, Ghanaian leaders are not getting it right, so I shouldn’t bother myself.

That statement has made me think deeply about one of Ghana’s biggest institutional problems: political patronage at the expense of competence.

Our politicians have become far too comfortable recruiting foot soldiers, loyalists and party activists while overlooking people with genuine expertise, critical thinking ability and the capacity to identify threats before they become crises.

This is not just bad politics. When competence is sacrificed for loyalty in institutions responsible for national security, the consequences can be dangerous.

A country cannot strengthen its intelligence and security architecture by rewarding political loyalty while ignoring capable minds who are willing to think independently, raise uncomfortable questions and sound the alarm when something is wrong.

National security should never be a reward for party loyalty. It should be built around competence, integrity, patriotism, professionalism and the ability to protect the national interest without fear or favour.

My concern has never been about recognition or political appointment. I raise issues because I believe some of them have implications for Ghana’s national security.

Perhaps the people who need to be paying attention are finally watching.
