@Franabouttown Variations on breakfast food are the most successful here: sausages, eggs, pancakes (+yogurt and berries). Will occasionally gourmet-up our beige diet with Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes. 4yo once cried for 30min straight when we gave mash on a Sunday instead of roasties

@EricBrookfield we do not compost though we are actually considering if we could add one when we make some changes to the garden. I think most people (except avid gardeners) do not. FYI also, compost = potting mix in british so everyone has it on had in that sense
