I have the same sentiment about Nigeria. Trying to force a homogenised “One Nigeria” identity by erasing ethnic roots is a form of self-deception. To build a stable multi-ethnic nation, we must acknowledge our distinct cultural foundations rather than pretending they don't exist.

@JudeOnoriode @emansvictor @odunayo_owo And BTW Nigerian pidgin is a combination of many languages. Many languages contributed words. Many of the words you speak came from English, Portuguese, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Urhobo, Ibibio, Ijaw etc.
Claiming exclusive pidgin in Warri is very very funny.

@JudeOnoriode @emansvictor @odunayo_owo Lmao you inadvertently reinforce my argument. Both Warri and Bini are historically tied to Yoruba. A lot of Yoruba words are in Bini lexicon. Itsekiri is a Yoruba dialect. That you bear Jude (Judas) doesn't stop it from being a Hebrew name or word which originally was Yehudah.

@JudeOnoriode @emansvictor @odunayo_owo Ọmọ doesn't mean a lot of things. It literal meaning is child. It became a slang & entered the vocabulary of the Nigeria pidgin. If it has another meaning or pronunciation in your language then it definitely not the one used in Nigerian pidgin. You're saying something else.

@JudeOnoriode @emansvictor @odunayo_owo It came from somewhere. And the root is Yoruboid. It has different variant such as Oma used by the Igala or Itsekiri.
Urhobo borrowed the word from Itsekiri or Bini. It's as simple as ABC. Everything isn't tribalism abeg.
