Cameco welcomes the federal government's nuclear energy strategy, which recognizes that Canada offers multiple nuclear reactor technologies including the Cameco-owned AP1000® reactor. The strategy reaffirms that provinces hold jurisdiction over technology choice, which directly impacts how Canada benefits from its nuclear sector, both domestically and internationally. The Canadian-owned AP1000 light water reactor is a proven, ready-to-build today technology that will diversify the Canadian nuclear supply chain to work on the vast majority of nuclear projects that are currently underway or planned around the world.

The strategy is also clear that Canada has an important role to play in delivering secure, reliable nuclear fuel to allied partners facing geopolitical realities impacting national and energy security.
