Some parents judge schools by the test scores.  But there are a lot of parents who judge schools by the attitude of their child when they get home in the afternoon. 

We need to be working to raise student achievement… but we also need to be creating good experiences for kids.

I remember a teacher telling me: “When you’re surrounded by superstars… it makes you want to be better than you are.” That’s the power of collaboration -- the power of positive peer pressure.  The best teachers don’t just inspire their students; they inspire their colleagues.

Schools need to do a better job of recognizing kids that aren’t on the honor roll.  There are so many things that matter other than grades.

Although schools have no control over sub pay, we can greet them, stop by the room, and say hello, and let them know to come to us if they need anything. I did this as a teacher and admin. It's so important to make them feel welcomed and feel like they're part of the team!
